ICE accepts three ways to pay the I-901 SEVIS fee: card online, check or money order by mail, and Western Union Quick Pay. Anyone, a relative, a sponsor or an agent like us, may pay it on your behalf. Here is how each works from Ghana.
1. Card on fmjfee.com
Fill in Form I-901 on fmjfee.com and pay with a credit or debit card. It's the fastest way: you can print a receipt straight away.
- Good if you have a card that works for international payments in US dollars.
- Watch out for your bank's foreign-transaction charges and card limits. If a payment fails, don't keep retrying with different cards. Check your status first so you don't pay twice.
2. Western Union Quick Pay, yourself
Fill in Form I-901 and choose Western Union Quick Pay. You get a coupon with a coupon number, and you pay it at a Western Union agent location in cedis.
- Good if you don't have a dollar card and live near an agent location that offers Quick Pay.
- You need the coupon number. ICE says you must fill in the form online before you go to Western Union.
- See how to generate your coupon.
3. Check or money order by mail
Print a coupon from fmjfee.com and mail it with a check or money order to SEVP in the United States.
- It must be an international money order or a foreign draft drawn on a U.S. financial institution, in U.S. dollars, made out to "I-901 Student/Exchange Visitor Processing Fee".
- Write your name, SEVIS ID and the coupon's control number on it, and attach the coupon.
- It's slow: ICE suggests allowing at least two weeks for regular mail to reach SEVP, and the wrong amount or a missing coupon gets the payment sent back.
4. Pay us in cedis by MoMo or bank transfer
This is Western Union Quick Pay (option 2), done for you. You send us your coupon, or just a few details from your I-20 and we fill in the form for you. You pay us in cedis, and we pay it at a Western Union outlet.
- No dollar card, no trip to an agent, no queue.
- Pay by MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, AT Money or bank transfer. One price per package, with everything included.
- We text you at every step and put your receipt in your account. Then you check the payment yourself on fmjfee.com.
Whichever way you choose
- Pay before your visa interview, and allow at least three business days for the payment to be received and verified.
- Use the I-20 or DS-2019 of the school or programme you will attend. The payment is tied to its SEVIS ID.
- Pay only once. Duplicate payments are refunded only if you ask within 90 days.
- Keep your payment confirmation for your interview and your arrival in the U.S.
